Reviews for Army Men: Air Tactics in Action for PC-Personal Computer ( PC ) :
Air Tactics is a teriff break from the usual land-based Army Men series. Instead of controlling Sarge yet again, you are Captain Blade. You'll pick up men, rebuild bridges, protect convoys, destroy convoys, drop napalms on top of toilets, pick up men, shoot men down, generally working with Sarge in crative mission. The cheat codes are crap, but it has Unlimited Lives, Rapid Fire, Auto-Combat under options, combat assist. It's a reccomended buy.
Gameplay is fun. Graphics are good, and it doesn't take an expensive card to have fun. You'll be switching from "real world" to "Plastic Land" again and again,a usual in the current Army Men games. The Gray Doctor who was busy with zombies in AM 2 is making mutant bugs. From Flys with machine guns grow from there backs to "pushy" hornets (they can push the chopper back by bumping it) to fireants with flamethrowers. You'll be ferrying Sarge and his men from place to place. You'll play games to solove some missions. The missions make you look closely into the game, especially on harder ones like the two sub missions
It's a 256-color-mode game, so you won't see any 3D or transparency effects. However, objects and scenes are vividly prerendered in isometric 3D. The mutant insects are especially cool.
The music can be repetitive, but overall is your standard fare. Except for a few instances of corny excess, explosions and sounds are appropriately cartoony, as you would expect from plastic soldier war.
